Johan Cruyff and Dennis Bergkamp share kickoff at the Cruyff Shoetique

AMSTERDAM – With a well-targeted shot, Dennis Bergkamp officially opened the Cruyff Shoetique in Amsterdam, Thursday afternoon June 11th. No one less than the grand master of soccer, Johan Cruyff himself, assisted him in the shot. This action was a parody to the famous penalty that Cruyff performed together with Jesper Olsen for Ajax in 1982, against Helmond Sport.

It wasn’t just the opening of the Cruyff Shoetique that formed the main focus of this special evening. Johan Cruyff personally handed Dennis Bergkamp the first copy of his own Denis Bergkamp line under the flag of Cruyff Classics.

Sander de Kramer (founder of ‘De Straatkrant’ (The Street Courier) and the Sunday Foundation), interviewed the two soccer legends. When asked the question what he himself thinks of his new shoe line, Dennis Bergkamp answered: “It’s a very nice collection and I am honored to be associated with Johan Cruyff once again by this new line of shoes. Plus, the shoes have a great fit. They have been made of thinner and even softer leather than the Cruyff soccer shoes which I started my career on.”

The Cruyff Shoetique is located at the Herenstraat in Amsterdam, in the heart of de Jordaan, near the famous nine streets.  Next to the legendary Cruyff Classics shoes, the Cruyff Shoetique also sells great accessories like Cruyff t-shirts, balls, bags, socks and books. The top floor of the Cruyff Shoetique displays the greatest moments from Johan Cruyffs glory years in the seventies and eighties. The bottom floor is a replica of the old soccer changing room of the Olympic Stadium.

When entering the Cruyff Shoetique, you’ll experience the rich history concerning the sports brand. The romance of the seventies, the mix of sports and life style and the philosophy behind the brand is well reflected. Walking around inside the Cruyff Shoetique really offers a unique experience and a must-see attraction, whether you are a soccer lover or not.
